The Sermon Reel: Table Manners

Sermons from Andrew Lay

Table Manners

Communion is not about us. It’s about God. In fact, the founder of Methodism, John Wesley, believed that taking communion can act as a conversion experience where you encounter Christ right here at the table. It is a gift. That’s why we don’t grab it. When you come to the table, you come with your hands out – like you are ready to accept a gift.

And it’s not something that we do on our own. We do it as a community. We do it as a church. Jesus wants us to do this together, with other people, with everyone else. Because we need each other. And it’s together, as the church, that we live out our faith.
