Job gives us permission to ask the questions we sometimes think we shouldn’t ask. Why did this happen? Why do good people suffer? Where is God when life falls apart? Why doesn’t God intervene? We can bring our questions, our doubts, and our suffering honestly before God.
God does appear to Job in the midst of a whirlwind…. But God doesn’t give Job a simple answer to the question of why. Instead, Job comes to understand something deeper: his suffering does not mean that God has abandoned him.
