The Sermon Reel: God Moves In Second Chances
Sermons from Andrew Lay
The story of Jonah offers us a warning. Just when we think we’ve got it all figured out, just when we think God is formed in our image, just when we know for certain that we are a part of the in-crowd… God just might do something crazy and surprise us.
Jonah wanted God to send fire and judgment on his enemies, but God wasn’t interested in destroying Jonah’s enemies. God was interested in saving them instead. And that is the message for us today… God does not want to hurt those who have hurt you. God is not interested in helping you get revenge from those who have harmed you. Instead, God wants to change their lives, and God wants you to help. God wants to use you in the healing, restoring, and the redeeming of this world. God wants you to go to Nineveh. God is offering you a Second Chance.
