“If anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!” These are Paul’s words from his Second letter to the Corinthians. Throughout this letter, we see Paul addressing various issues within the church. There is division and disunity among the group. In fact, the very people Paul first taught and mentored are now questioning his authority and credentials as an apostle. On top of that, they are questioning the message of the gospel itself. So, in this passage from the second letter to the Corinthians Paul claims three important teachings:
1. In Christ, we are a new creation
2. Through Christ, we have the ministry of reconciliation
3. For Christ, we are ambassadors to the world
In Christ. Through Christ. For Christ.
